What is Hidden Acres Thoroughbred Rescue?

Hidden Acres Equestrian Center (HA) was established in 2007 in Port St. John, Florida by twin sisters Suzanna and Shannon Norris to offer the local community a facility to learn proper horsemanship in a safe, fun, and family-oriented environment.  Both sisters have extensive experience in teaching people to connect with horses in a way that allows riding to be a positive experience for both horse and rider.  Happy horses equals happy riders are words to live by at HA.  With a background in retraining Off The Track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs) to become hunters, jumpers, and eventers and always having an open door to horses of any breed in need it was a natural progression to start a rescue program to help retired race horses find new careers after the track. In December 2010, HA joined forces with Florida Trac (501c3), www.fltrac.org, and now has adopted out 7 thoroughbreds to new loving homes and has 4 more in training.  Although Florida TRAC is subsidized by Gulfstream Park, www.gulfstreampark.com, and Calder Casino & Race Course, www.calderracecourse.com, we must continually seek other avenues of funding as there are many horses that need our help. We appreciate all volunteer hours, donations, and corporate sponsorships to help fund the rescue.  Please, submit email above if you would like more information on how you can help.
